Worried about your kid?
It’s very hard to see your child struggling and not know what to do to help. Each one comes with a unique temperament and needs—and no handy-dandy instruction manual. It takes a lot of wisdom, work, and patience—and sometimes some outside expert feedback to help a child reach full potential. Doing it well, and having a happy successful kid, who reaches happy successful adulthood, is every good parent’s dream. There can be a lot of challenges along the way to reaching that dream. Counseling can help with many of those obstacles.
Children express their needs and emotions differently than teens and adults do. They learn and heal through expressive means—such as art and play—not by "talking things out."
As a former teacher of small children, I have lots of experience helping kids tap into these expressive healing channels and move forward into greater happiness, peace, and success.
I use NLP techniques, play and expressive arts, narrative or story-telling techniques and a pleasant, comforting and welcoming healing environment to help your child reclaim joy and confidence and let go of problem behaviors that are causing suffering.
As a teacher of court mandated parenting classes at Palomar Family Counseling Services, INC, I picked-up valuable tools to help parents learn to manage their emotional responses, and build strong and positive connections with their children. I teach powerful, loving, effective child-rearing techniques with a strong emphasis on natural consequences and positive reinforcement of desired behaviors. Discipline does not have to be a painful experience for you or your child.
I’ve had very positive outcomes helping children with:
•Divorce •Blended-family adjustment difficulties •Trauma and abuse •Anxiety •Depression •Behavior Disorders •School Performance •ADHD •Learning Challenges •Grief and Loss •Low Self-esteem •Stress •Separation anxiety •Whining •Bullying •Adoption and fostering issues
I ask for participation from both parents, whenever possible. This policy is modified in cases of overt parental abuse. I teach co-parenting skills that will give your child a renewed sense of peace and security about life. It is my profound philosophical belief that a child's needs must come first. Kids are frequently unable to control the circumstances causing them stress—but you, as a parent, often can. I will help you do it. I believe that your child's symptoms are best addressed through a strength-based family systems approach.
Things can get better! Start consciously investing in your child's happiness, today!
